Outlook is continuously downloading old emails from my IMAP server, resulting in many duplicates (and triplicates). Sometimes the duplicates resolve themselves, but I am unable to determine a pattern. My email tech support (I have my own domain at easyDNS) says that there are no duplicates in my IMAP account (some 60,000 emails), so that suggests problem is caused by Outlook on my iMac (no probs with Outlook on iOS devices). ![]() ![]() It has been suggested that easiest remedy would be to delete/reinstall Outlook, and then sync emails. What is best way to do that without screwing up my authorized number of installs? I'm probably not interested in buying a utility to remove duplicate emails as I suspect problem would reappear. Would prefer to have clean install of Outlook. (If it's relevant, there was previously a copy of Outlook 2011 on this computer and there are likely vestiges of that program lurking somewhere.). Thank you for your suggestion Bryan. I reset my Outlook preferences (I had not known about this tool) 12 hours ago and I am no longer experiencing repeated email downloads. In the past, these repetitious downloads occurred sporadically, so success is not yet guaranteed! I will, however, endeavour to report back in two weeks or so as to whether the issue has in fact been remediated. Do you have a suggestion for the best tool to address that problem? Yep, I had the same problem, and tried deleting any Microsoft identities and exchange in the Keychain. Didn't seem to fix it. In fact, it just prompts 2-3 times in succession within a few seconds. I'm going to try again with Outlook turned off, and see if that helps. I even had an email message get totally hung in the process. Could see it, move it around, but couldn't close it, nor edit it. I shut down Outlook and it finally realized it had a message that hadn't been sent or saved then stuffed into drafts.
